Established in 1958, the sport of skiing was revolutionized with a technical innovation from Ed Scott, a talented engineer and ski racer living in Sun Valley, Idaho. Ed Scott's invention of the first tapered aluminium ski pole immediately replaced the sport's existing use of bamboo and steel.That revolutionary invention launched a new brand, SCOTT, and fundamentally positioned Scott as a technical product leader in the skiing market.
1971 - Scott produced the world's lightest ski boot and introduced one of the first ski goggles utilizing foam ventilation 1986 - Scott opened the world's most sophisticated ski pole factory in Italy and became the global leader in ski pole production. 1997 - Scott introduced a technical winter sport apparel line. One year later, it was producing skis. 2000 - Scott released its innovative, new goggle RAM Air ventilation system and the revolutionary Amplifier lens. 2004 - Scott wins a European Skiing Award for its Biomex Helmet, which it created in cooperation with Biomex® Protection. It featured a Dual Band Roll Cage which reduced the swing weight and made it more comfortable to wear. 2008 - Scott celebrated its 50 year anniversary and released its Solar Blocker lens technology. 2009 - Scott released its new carbon ski - 'The Crusair'.

In 1958, using Sun Valley's famed terrain and ski-focused community as inspiration; Ed Scott revolutionised the ski industry with his invention of the first tapered alumninium ski pole.
